Duo V1, no Gbit
Sorry for the odd topic-title, but I thought my Readysnas Duo had Gbit connection, but either i'm wrong og plain confused, here's a screenshot of what i'm talking about:

The Speed/Duplex is what i'm curious about, is my Nas just too old for Gbit?

- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredIt's showing you're connected with a 1000 Mbit (i.e. gigabit connection). Status: Online / 1000 Mbit / Full-Duplex
If the Speed/Duplex mode is set to auto-negotiate the NAS will auto-negotiate a gigabit connection where available. - sendjesAspirantThat was kinda what I was hoping for, but I only get around 10-11MB/s which is equal to a 100Mbit, so I really don't get, if I hook up my old laptop which also has Gbit network, I get speeds atleast at 65MB/s.
- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredIs that reads/writes? The Duo (v1) is using several year old hardware. I've found writes to be quite slow (about what you'd get from a 100 Mbit connection, but reads are quicker)
- sendjesAspirantFrom Nas to Workstation: 10-10MB/s
From Workstation to Nas: 11-12MB/s
And regarding old hardware, that was my thoughts also, I guess I have to upgrade to a newer Nas
although I aint gonna spend a fortune, thanks for the replies. - StephenBGuru - Experienced UserDid you look at the duo's network stats and the disk health?
What protocol are you using for the speed test? What is the network path between the NAS and the client device? What firmware are you running? - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee Retiredsendjes is running 4.1.10 and the NAS has a gigabit connection (See the first post).
sendjes should check to make sure that Cat5e or newer ethernet cables are being used.
What brand and model disks are installed? - sendjesAspirantI'm using Cat5e cables, my disks are WD Red 2TB's
- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredDid you last do a factory reset on RAIDiator 4.1.7 or later?
How full is your data volume? - StephenBGuru - Experienced User
I didn't check the image, which is why I missed the firmware.mdgm wrote: sendjes is running 4.1.10 and the NAS has a gigabit connection (See the first post).
I know the NAS has a gigabit connection (and the PC), I was wondering about the connection path in between (what equipment is on it). Jumbo frames are perhaps another complication.
Basically there isn't enough information yet to diagnose this. - etardieuTutorIf that can help you, here is some comparison:
duo v1, samsung spinpoint disks 1To (2009), RAID1, gigabit full duplex with jumbo frames 7K, 1Gb of memory upgrade :
CIFS write windows 8 : 23Mo/s
CIFS read windows 8 : 26Mo/s
setting up jumbo frames resulted in a 10Mo/s speed bonus (went from 15Mo/s to 25Mo/s), if your switch supports them.
just for fun, my brand new ultra 2, same disks, RAID1, 1Gbit full duplex except jumbo frames now up to 9K :
CIFS write : ~60Mo/s
CIFS read : ~100Mo/s (couldn't believe it...)
going from duo v1 to ultra 2 results in a _massive_ upgrade in performances.
