Duo v1 with corrupt root after firmware "upgrade"
I rebooted my Duo v1 via Frontview to upgrade to firmware v4.1.13
Since the reboot, it doesnt work. I have all the lights on the front of the ReadyNAS flashing 3 fast flashes, followed by 3 slow ones. RAIDar says "corrupt root"
I have tried to do an OS reinstall using this procedure:
1. Push power button for 5 sec until the ReadyNAS turns off
2. Push and hold reset button while I turn the power back on
3. Hold for 5 sec until the LEDs flash once
I tried this but nothing seems to have changed.
I have also tried skipping the volume check, but again, no change.
I have all of the data backed-up elsewhere, but not all my digitised CDs. If the data has to be lost, I'll do it, but I want to check there's no other way first. Netgear say that as it's out of warranty, the best they can offer is an extended support contract (costing nearly twice the original cost of the ReadyNAS). I'd rather bin it than spedn that much on it.
Any advice from anyone? I'm fairly techie, but know nothing about Linux. Many thanks, Jon.

- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserYou can try installing linux reader on a PC (http://www.diskinternals.com/linux-reader/). Then connect disk 1 of the duo to the PC, using either the SATA or a SATA->USB adapter. That might allow you to pull your CD images off.
- TournifreakAspirantThat's great - I will try to recover my data using this. Any ideas how to actually get the corrupt root problem fixed too?
Many thanks,

- paulcy82AspirantWere you ever able to resolve this issue? I am having the exact same problem. The drives can in or out, same blinking pattern. I can't bring up the boot menu via the reset button either.
- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredDid you follow the boot menu procedure in the Hardware Manual?
Also did you check my explanation on rnasguide.com to check which Duo you have?
