I have a Dvico M6600 unit which does exactly what you want, and works beautifully over CIFS or NFS. I think any of the above mentioned units (WD TV Live, Popcorn hour, medi8tor units etc) will do exactly the same and just what you want. My ReadyNas NV+ V2 is currently holding over 500 DVD ISO files as well as about 65 MKV BlueRay rips and it handles them all perfectly.
