After searching for a solution, it appears I need to enable DLNA on my NAS.
Is this a good idea? Are there inherent risks to enabling DLNA?
Often you will need a DLNA server running on the NAS if you want to watch media on a smart TV. Another option is see if the TV has a plex app available - if so you could use plex.
DLNA is a local service, and it is not something that can be used over the open internet.
You need to enable the DLNA service itself on the system->settings->services page, and then enable DLNA on each share that holds media using the settings wheel for those shares (on the shares page).

It appears that my Sony Bravia does support Plex. I think I will try that first since it is supported by the NAS and LEDtv. The Hopper Home Media app appears to be shaky at best.
Thanks
