Expansion with drive not on HCL

If the Hitachi fails later, the array would be intact but unprotected. Any other problem would destroy the array, You would need to replace the drive to re-establish redundancy.
The other "automatic" - RAID is not a substitute for backup. If you don't have a backup plan in place, you should address that.
