Factory reset still going after 20 hoours?

It isn't clear what exactly was happening in the first step, though it does not appear to have been a factor reset.
Anyway, I think an OS reinstall is the right next step. Once he can get into the NAS again, he can sort out if there is any benefit to doing the reset.
