Folder Creation

Hi,

Apologies first – new user with ReadyNAS 314.

Can someone please provide step by step instructions on how to setup user folders which are restricted to just user and admin?

Thanks.

  • Those are called home folders.
On 6.2.0 you can find them in the share tab. on prior version I don't remember where they where.

Otherwise you have the option to create a share and give it special permissions. This would work too but require some work as you will need to create one per user.

Home folders is definitely the easiest way to do this.
  • Thanks guys - all I need now is knowledge on how to extract the old data (nv+ v2) 2 drive setup and transfer it to the new NAS (kicking myself as I did not backup the data onto another source).
  • Can you be more specific on your transfer issue ? The first idea popping to mind is to simply use windows to do the transfer, maybe a shell script if there are too many home folders. But given the sound of your phrase it seems that the NV+ is not longer operational.

Per mdgm, netgear support can do this for you. So try contacting them (support.netgear.com).
