Future Support of NV+ Platforms

Hi,

I own an NV+ purchased in June 2008. I understand this is now considered end of life and is out of warranty support.

However, should I have software isues in the future such as stuck on booting or another issue where I can't gain access to the device, how do I get this resolved?

When this happened once before, I ahd to have a support agent log in remotely via telnet. Obviously this won't happen in future so how would I rescue my device without a factory reset. If possible, could I have the telnet password so I could resolve issues myself?

Thanks...

A NV+ unit purchased new in June 2008 would have a 5 year warranty. So you should be able to get some support via an Online Submission.
  • I believe after that a case would still be opened but the telephone support route has a $299 fee attached to it. At this point, you can buy a new NAS NV+ for roughly $300 USD, so it's kind of a "six of one, half a dozen of the other" scenario.

The thing is though that NV+ (v1) units would be becoming harder to find new.

You can still seek help on the forums and the community can do its best to help.
  • Thanks. How about publishing a means of gaining access via telnet like support representitives do when these go end of support so at least we can try and fix issues.

It's one thing to gain access via telnet and quite another to know what to do once you get in there.
