In case anyone is interested, I called support and purchased an extended warranty for another year.
I had to go through the standard procedure of OS reinstall, booting with just disk 1. They asked me to put it in telnet mode, but it never could get an IP address from the router. It was constantly 196.168.168.168. They are sending me anoter readynas duo unit and we will go on from there.
In looking at the logs, the only major thing was disk 1 had no "partition table".
I'm updating this just in case anyone is following along.
