Help needed: ReadyNAS NVX (RNDX4000) Restore to RAIDiator 4.2 - Empty /boot_flash
Hi everyone, I’m reaching out because I made a major mistake while attempting to upgrade my ReadyNAS NVX (RNDX4000) from v4.2 to OS6. The upgrade failed, and now I'm trying to restore the unit ba...

Just to clarify, do you mean that I should completely remove the /vpd directory along with the /vpd/vpd file?
Yes, I can undo this if you believe it’s necessary.
However, based on my previous recovery attempts, it didn’t seem to make any difference whether this file was present on the disk or not. In all cases, I still see the error '/boot_flash/vpd': No such file or directory, as well as the missing administrative interface.
I’m ready to follow your further instructions.

Well, the real VPD file is binary and digitally signed by Netgear. So what you did certainly wouldn't resolve the problem and it might be getting in the way. I am wondering if you created the folder and file in the mount point (with the actual folder boot_flash folder not mounted).
I haven't looked at what is supposed to be in the folder (or the full boot flash drive) on my Pro 6, and I don't have an NVX. So I don't have direct experience on how you might recover from what you did. There is a post here from someone else who made your mistake:
AlexSem wrote:I can successfully mount it in Tech Support mode using the root password you kindly provided in your article “Backup and restore of VPD file.” I am able to read from and write to the mounted boot_flash partition without any issues.
What files are you seeing in the mounted boot_flash? Can you copy/paste the directory listing? Include the file sizes. (don't try a screenshot, as that functionality in the forum is broken. Instead select the text in the telnet session and use control-c to copy it.)
Also, when you connect to frontview, are you using https://nas-ip-address/admin ?
