How to make backups from windows machine

Hi,

I'm new to readynas and I'm trying to make backups from a windows machine into my readynas, however, I'm kinda lost and don't really know where to start. I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction...

So, how do I back-up my windows machine?

Some backup software should have come on the CD that came with your ReadyNAS.

What are you wanting to backup? The entire drive in your PC or just the a specific folder?
  • For this I would usually setup a backup on the NAS for windows(timestamp) or windows(archive bit). You will need to place the administrator credentials in the username and password section to allow the NAS to access the data. Then schedule the backup appropriately. The path for the backup should be structure like it is here: http://www.readynas.com/kb/faq/backup/h ... e_readynas if you are wanting to back up an entire drive.

If you are looking at 3rd party backup solutions, there are a few mentioned here: http://www.readynas.com/?cat=10 with some how-to vids.
