Is firmware version v6 compatible with RND4000

I have a RND4000 that has been running version 4.1.14 of the firmware very well. I just got a notification that there is a security vulnerability with version 6.5.0. This raises two questions:

1) Does the security vulnerability apply to the older firmware?

2) Should I upgrade, or is it even possible to upgrade the RND4000 to the latest version 6 firmware.

Thanks

You got that email by mistake - your system can't be upgraded to version 6.

Unfortunately your NAS is vulnerable, and it will not be fixed.  Note the Samba team no longer supports the SAMBA version used in the NAS, it would require Netgear to backport the patches to it.  And they've already announced that all firmware updates (including security fixes) has been discontinued.

My NV+ is also still in service, I think that is safe as long as the NV+ isn't open to the internet.
