iSCSI server for OS X

Does anyone know of a good iSCSI server solution for OS X? I am considering a Thunderbolt-based RAID storage device connected to a Mac Mini server and wold like to see if I could use the Thunderbolt storage as an iSCSI target.

Thanks!

  • There are a pay for product from GlobalSAN and Xtend that will allow an OS X system to be an iSCSI Initiator.
  • I'm not looking for an iSCSI initiator - I need an iSCSI server for OS X. XTend has an iSCSI server, but they charge $899 for it. I don't think it's wise on their part to charge that much. I got a brand new 27" Apple Cinema display for $900. There is no way I would buy an iSCSI server software for that much. I would gladly buy it if it were $100. If I were an enterprise, I would not go with a Mac and attached Thunderbolt RAID storage as A SAN solution. I would go with the industry standard. So, the niche market of those running Macs as servers with attached Thunderbolt storage who also want to connect workstations to that storage via iSCSI is relatively small: musicians, photographers and very few pro-summers. Few of them would spend as much money on this piece of software as a Mac Mini costs.
