Just got an error "Snapshot on volume C was invalidated ...

I just received an error:

Snapshot on volume C was invalidated and has been removed due to reserve space being completely used

What snapshot is this? I have tons of diskspace left so it's a weird error to see.

Thanks.

  • Snapshots are used for "freezing" contents of shares during backups. During the initial setup of your NAS, you were asked what size snapshot to use (if any). Check Frontview > Volumes > Volume Settings > Snapshot to see the size:

In a nutshell, it likely means that you've added/changed more data than the snapshot can keep track of (and not really too much of a concern unless you're using snapshots when backing up your NAS).
  • Cool - thanks. It's doing a big fsck right now but I will disable the setting when it comes back up.

    Thanks!
