You're my man! I always been logged on automatically before upgrading my iMac so I never really thought about what password I use. The strange thing is I seem to be able to use whatever login to get access to the NAS, play movie files etc. But I can't alter anything. Some kind of open guest login.
This was the last problem after my clean install to OS 10.8 and a swapped HD for a SSD. Now everything works flawlessly, and my old iMac (mid -07) is lightning fast.
