Making Time Machine work with the ReadyNAS

Having a small issue, hopefully its just my inexperience with Mac/Unix. I followed all of the steps, but keep getting this error...
Every time I start the TM backup, it mounts the volume and comes back with the error "The backup volume is read only. Please select a different..." etc etc.
I've checked the AFP and CIFS shares on the NAS and everything is set to read/write. It's set to connect as the admin, the only user account. I can write to the share without issue.
Any ideas?
