max volume size and disk size
Does the 2120v1 have any limits on disk size use (like a 16TB voume limit) as this is old unit and is ARM based (cpu is a bit slow as its the V1 version)
even with OS 6.10.3 i would have thought there be volume size limits on such an old unit (not sure if i would want to put 8TB disks in this unit any way as build time just with 4x1TB RAID5 is 8 hours, so it would be 24 Hours for 4x4TB)
are the intel units significtly faster like the RN2304 or higher (also i noticed there is logging things missing on the performace page on my 2120 and it does not show snapshot size)

Welcome to the Community!
There shouldn't be any limit to OS6 systems and current ReadyNAS tested drives for RN2120 has 16TB drives.
Since the CPU of the RN2120 is old, you may have to expect longer build and resync times with larger drives.
RR2304 has an x86 CPU so you may say it's faster. What info are you looking for? There might be a few performance tabs missing depending on the architecture of the unit.

- likemanAspirantThe snapshot missing info on the pie Chart requires quota to be ticked (system, Volumes , pie chart > settings and tick quota where checksum tick box is under summary)
Now I can see how much space snapshots are being used, I guessing it's just counting how much extends been used witch is why I think it gives you a warning that it might slow the unit down when enabled (think extends the correct name for each allocation unit been used)
My nas did a goofy thing last night (was my fault) I managed to unclip and open one of the trays which caused it be pulled out while it was rebuilding so I put it back in and it made 2 md pools of md126 and md127, I deleted the foreign pool but it kinda broke the array as once it restored visible RAID5 pool it was online and clean and Degraded at the same time because the hidden old md126 pool was still there but not there lol, i reset the array after that (so I think next time it's just best to use diskpart and use clean command to zap the disk before I put it back in so they don't have any Config left on it)
Now I have got a 3rd but dead 2120v1 (I needed the trays for my other units that was tray less and only paid £28 for it) and a TTL serial cable see what the output is saying, as I managed to factory reset it and it booted up with very old 6.1 pre installed it tried to update to 6.2 then went back to flashing red light on reboot again at immediate power up also both network lights flash together at power up as well) and it is not letting me use the boot menu any more so can't USB recovery method (I guessing dead NAND flash chip) is there any guide to using the TTL to recover the unit assuming it will let me do anything, as it be nice to get it working if I can erase the flash and reflash it- SandsharkSensei
You tried to update to 6.2.what? There is this warning in the release notes.
- ReadyNAS 102, 104, and 2120 systems must not be updated directly to 6.10.x from 6.3.x or older firmware. They must first be updated to either 6.2.5 or 6.3.5 then to 6.5.2 and then to 6.10.x.
I purchased a used unit with very old firmware, and the online update path followed the above restrictions, so it should only be an issue of you are updating manually from a downloaded file.
USB recovery does not utilize the boot menu, see here:How-do-I-use-the-USB-Recovery-Tool-on-my-ReadyNAS-OS-6-storage-system#Rack-mount_ReadyNAS . So, you can still give that a try. Note that USB3 drives and anything over 8GB is unlikely to work, and in general the older, the better.
If you get all working and want to put your last 2120V1 in use, there are many Chenbro caddies that work: See Rack-mount-ReadyNAS-drive-caddy-replacement-spares.
