Maximum Volume Size vs TIme Machine Maximum Size

I recently set up my ReadyNAS 314 with 4 Seagate Ironwolf 6TB (ST6000VN0041) hard drives. I am running ReadyNAS OS 6, Firmware 6.6.0.

As you can see in the attached screenshots, the maximum storage sized reported to me is 16.36TB; however, when I visit the Backup: Time Machine dialog, it reports that the maximum space I can allocate is 17986.45GB or 17.98645TB.

Why is there a descrpancy between these two areas in the maximum amount of space available in the system? Is there something that went wrong during setup of my ReadyNAS?

The units on the volume page are TiB (1024*1024*1024*1024 bytes).

It looks to me like the TM units are GB (1000*1000*1000 bytes). 17986.45 GB is the same as 16.36 TiB.

Thank you for pointing that out. I suppose the issue then is should Netgear correct the label for the units on the volume page to reflect the proper units, in this case, they are "TiB" and not "TB" as it is currently stated and update the TM units to also be TiB or GiB for consistency throughout the device.

Most PCs call it TB when they are using TiB. Disk manufacturers use TB and call it TB. It can be a bit confusing at first and if we said TiB people would contact us wondering what TiB is.
