Migrate from ReadyNas 314 to RN3138
Hoping someone with knowledge can advise...
I have been running a Readynas 314 in our office for the past 7 years. All is fine still but have acquired a diskless brand new RN3138 which i was considering upgrading to. Is this a relitively straight forward task? Can I backup/restore my user/system config and then simply move the disks across? Or do I have to purchase new disks and recreate all the user/share/RAID configs and then restore the data?
All help and advice much appreciated before I open the box!

Hi LilRos,
Both units are x86 and run on OS6 firmware so you can just transfer the disks from the RN314 to RN3138 and it will run as it is (https://kb.netgear.com/22895/ReadyNAS-OS-6-Migrating-a-volume).
Still, it is a best practice to backup your data first before transferring the disks just to be safe.
Regards,- LilRosAspirantThanks John for the quick response. So literally out the box, disks in, power up and my users and config all intact and users can login?
That's just too easy!
Much appreciated- JohnCM_SNETGEAR Employee Retired
Hi LilRos,
Yes, all users and config should all be intact when you transfer the disks to the RN3138 since both units have the same OS.
Regards,
