Migrate X-RAID Disk to new NAS
Hello all... I'm using RNDP400 with 4 x 3TB HDD (X-RAID setup). Firmware already upgrade to OS 6.10.9 and all system running normal for couple of years. Now I just get new RNDP600-100 still in d...
Is it possible to switch off RNDP400 then move full array of HDD to diskless RNDP600 (also in power off condition) then just Power ON without upgrading the OS 4 to OS 6?
No, that won't work.
worst case, if I must upgrade RNDP600 OS 4 to OS 6 before do the migration I must prepare new HDD. how big size that OS 4 support? 6TB or 8TB make sense?
Pre-conversion, you should upgrade the RAM to at least 2 GB (I'd go with 2x2GB myself) prior to conversion. I also recommend trying the spare disk in every bay, just to make sure all bays work prior to conversion. Other pre-conversion steps you might consider is upgrading the bios, and backing up the VPD.
You only need one spare disk in order to convert the Pro-6 to OS-6. Then after conversion, you'd power down and migrate the disks. I don't think there is any size restriction (as long as you are only using one drive). 8 TB would certainly work.
RNDP600-100
This is the first generation (v1) Pro-6, with a E2160 processor. The v2 (-200) has a faster E5300 processor. It is possible to upgrade the processor if you want (perhaps to an E7600).
