Migration from non-Netgear NAS to Netgear ReadyNAS 102

The final process that worked: Everything was done using the Netgear NAS interface and ignoring the Buffalo NAS.
- Created new folders and set up permissions on the New Netgear NAS
- Create new Backups that use source as remote with 'Windows/NAS' and typed in proper credentials to access the remote files.
- Set the destination to the newly created folders on the Netgear NAS.
- I did this setting and really liked it. On the schedule tab, UNCHECK the 'Enabled box. Leave all other settings the same.
- When the time was right I then would click on each of the new 20 backup jobs I created and ran them manually.
- After all files are migrated, I also found that running a Reset Permissions helped clean up all file and folder permissions. This is located on the Netgear NAS Shares page, click on the share you want to work on, click on the cog symbol on the right, click on settings, click on the right tab for 'File Access', click on the 'Reset' button on the left, then click on 'Reset permissions'. This will set all items and folders you just moved over into the proper permissions that you set up for that particular folder.
That is a really great idea. The user interface on the Buffalo NAS is horrible, so this is a great workaround. I have about 20 different folders with various access restrictions. Created those 20 folders on the ReadyNAS 102. It looks like I have to create a different backup for each folder. There are a few different Source Remote settings I may try (example Windows/NAS, RSYNC Server etc).
I am trying the 'remote: Windows/NAS' now and it is copying files over, but the RSYNC may be better perhaps..
I'll let you know which one I end up using.
