Mirror OS4 Shares to OS6 via eSata?
I am in the process of loading my new RN316 from an old Ultra-6 running OS4.
Currently using a Windows utility called Beyond Compare to mirror the shares, but my LAN speed is not as wonderful as it should be and, in the past, I have noticed that eSata copies run almost twice as fast.
That being the case, is there anything I can run on the OS6 box that will let me mirror a share from the OS4 box?
I don't mean just Copy - because I am about 1/3 of the way through loading a large share.
What I would like to do is pull the plug on the current load, and re-start it (without having to re-copy what has already been copied) using the eSata connection - supervised by something running on the OS6 box.
Is there any hope for this?
Or do I have to wait until I can re-flash the Ultra-6 with OS6?

There is no such capability, regardless of the OS you are running. The Ultra doesn't even have an eSATA port, but that's not a contributing factor. If you were already runing OS6 on the Ultra, you could just move the drives over. But nothing available is going to be faster than a network copy. Just how slow is it? Maybe where you need to devote some effort is seeing if you can speed up the Ethernet speed.

Do you have a gigabit lan?
If not, adding a cheap gigabit switch to it (and perhaps a cheap gigabit network card to the PC, if required) to connect both NAS's and PC will give better throughput

Also, BeyondCompare will copy everything through the Windows PC.
You'll do better to set up a backup job on the OS6 system and pull the OS4 data directly (skipping the Windows middle man).
