Moving files from USB to NAS (ReadyNAS 2100)

ReadyNAS do not support ExFAT, so you'll have to transfer the files via a computer and the network.
Is that a 2100V2, which can be converted to OS6, or an older one, which cannot? Regardless, if this is your first ReadyNAS, you may want to consider other brands, but especially if it cannot be converted to OS6. Jumping now onto an abandoned platform is something to be thought over carefully.

I’m not sure if it’s V1 or V2, I’ve asked the seller to confirm. I know that V1 will need an older browser to get the admin page up.
I’m only going to be using it for Home use to save my files and use it to watch 4k Mkv files via network on my Nvidia Sheild. It won’t be used much tbh. ReadyNAS should be ok?
I brought it as I got it cheap, £60 and with 4x 1TB drives which is way more than I need, I currently got about 1TB of data.

A ReadyNAS is certainly adequate for home use. But OS4.2.x has not been updated since 2017 and OS6 has gotten only minor updates, and clearly has no intention of doing anything else. I would not be surprised if the current release turns out to be the last. So how long that will continue to be the case is unknown. For those running apps on their NAS, some already cannot be updated, and that will also eventually happen to them all.
A NAS is not a "set and forget" device, it takes some effort to maintain. For those already familiar with the maintenance of a ReadyNAS, there is no immediate need to jump ship. But boarding a sinking ship is another matter.
FYI, I don't even know how to ID a V2 from a V1 externally. RAIDiator and the GUI will tell you. So if the seller wasn't the user, he may not know.
Just to make sure: This is a 2100 (RNRX4000) you're talking about -- a 4-bay rack-mount system -- right? I hope you have a good place for it, as those little fans can get quite annoying. And make sure you get the caddies -- they are not interchangeable with other ReadyNAS nor available anywhere.

I won’t be wanting any apps to run on the NAS, just a NAS where I can access docs on my MacBook Pro and use Kodi on Nvidia Shield to play 50-80Gb 4k Mkv files.
