My RN516 won't boot anymore - any solutions to repair, or restore the data, else?
Hi, My RN516 does not boot anymore. What can I do to fix it? Or to restore the data? For instance: 1) Where can I buy a power supply? 2) If I buy another RN516, will my current hard drives work?...

I'm glad it went smoothly - and thx for following up.

Have you checked the NAS status on RAIDar if it is still being detected? What was the last event done before this happened? What is the error message on the LCD screen?
If the NAS is not booting after a Firmware update, it might be worth a try doing a USB recovery on the NAS.
Have you checked the health of the disks inserted? If the NAS is not powering on anymore then it is possible that it had a power or hardware failure.
You can restore the data by either purchasing another NAS with OS 6 firmware, migrating the disk directly on the replacement NAS is possible, purchasing another RN516 or RN526 is advised though.
If you want to use third party Software like ReCLAIMe it is also possible to get your data recovered. But if your NAS is under 5 years, it is also worth a try to contact Support to get a replacement, just make sure the NAS is registered at my.netgear.com and also provide your Proof of Purchase.

Can you define "does not boot" better? If you mean "does not turn on", then a power supply might be the answer. If you mean something else, then try removing all drives (labeling them so you can put them back in the same order) and then install just one spare drive (any size, not containing data you care about) and see if the NAS will create a volume with it. If it will, then the problem is in the OS on the drives, not the hardware.

Sorry, my initial description was not clear.
My NAS does not turn on anymore.
Tried several power cords and different power sockets, nothing works. What are my options? My main concern is my data (I assume the 6xHD are ok).
1. Where can I buy a power supply replacement and what model shall I chose?
2. Could a qualified electrician repair my NAS?
3. If I buy the same NAS model on ebay, and insert the 6xHD in the same order, will it work?
4. If I buy a different Netgear 6 bays SAN, and insert the 6xHD in the same order, will it work?- StephenBMar 05, 2020Guru - Experienced User

Thank you for your inputs.
I’ve just purchased a RN626X00-100NES, waiting for the delivery.
What is the procedure to follow to transfer my 6xHD from the old to the new NAS?
Any preliminary action such as:
1. OS update on the new NAS?
2. A first initialisation with a spare HD maybe?
