NAS PRO BE no longer seeing Volumes and Shares after adding
As the original 4x500GB disks died, I've been replacing them with 1TB Seagate (ST1000DM003-1CH162) disks over the course of the last year or so. Over the weekend, I added another 1TB Seagate dick to ...

This is getting almost ludicrous. I tried your suggestion and now RAIDar shows all my disks as Green but FV only shows #4 as being alive; which is of course different than the #2 it showed before the power off/on. The logs still show "the Volume Scan failed to run properly" for the umpteenth time and the Volumes and Shares are still missing. GRRRR!
I had some similar symptoms. See this thread: http://www.readynas.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=64&t=70809&p=394417#p393273. Unfortunately, I didn't find a solution other than "contact support" (which would have cost me) or a factory default.
BTW, the proper way to add a drive is hot, not with power off. That may or may not have contributed to the problem. If you get everything looking good without having to factory default (in which case you might as well do it with all the drives installed), insert the new one with power on. Note, too, that my problem may have been started by a failing drive. So make a backup ASAP if you don't already have one.
