New laptop wont connect to netgear readynas
Hello and thanks in advance for your assistance.
Situation is this:
- I have a Netgear ReadyNas (RN10400) which is connected via cable to the router
- When I set it up, I mapped the folders...

IP for the NAS is 192.168.0.7
IP for the laptop is IPv4 10.0.0.9
(I followed these instructions) - https://kb.netgear.com/20878/Finding-your-IP-address-without-using-the-command-prompt .... running windows 10 on a wireless connection
You need to change the IP Address on your laptop to 192.168.0.xxx
xxx being a number not already used in your network.
Hey Bedlam, I googled how to do that and started to add in but it's also asking for a default gateway ... how do I know what to put here (google wasnt helpful sorry).
Also, as part of my troubleshooting, I checked the PC and the old laptop that can see the NAS and they do not have a 192.168 IP address ... they too have ones like 10.0.0.19
OK well leave the new laptop as it was, then check it is in the same workgroup as the ReadyNAS
To check this open Accounts/Authenticate on the ReadyNAS and note the workgroup name
Then check the new laptop, to do this just enter WORKGROUP in the search bar and open "Change workgroup name" and change it if necessary, reboot the laptop
Perhaps consider changing the ReadyNAS IP Address to 10.0.0.xxx
Hi Bedlam, great thank you for the instructions ... where is accounts/authenticate? I have the RAIDar app open and this doesnt seem to be an option. I have attached a picture which has the options on the menu, and another picture which shows the error message when I try to select any of the options
