New Password never arrives

Rather than post on older threads, I have started a new thread.

I received my new Pro 2 last week. When setting up, one of the first things I do in case of emergency, is test my settings. All my email tests worked OK.

Until I tried a Password reset. I've tried several times over 2 days but the emails have never arrived?? And they are not stuck on my ISP server. The browser message says they were sent.

So - I've had to do a factory reset using the reset button. (I chose full reset on purpose).

Does anybody know why the new passwords never came? I notice this is not isolated to me. Just glad I tested before having data on it.

  • Do you have DNS Servers configured in your ReadyNAS device? Have you tried a test email based on the configs you have in NAS? If so, what error message if any do you receive...you can check the logs for that information.
  • Yes, DNS server configured and test mail received - no error message.
    I did the password reset first but it didn't help.
    Having default reset, I tested it again and the password still never came. The test email did. There is no error message for when I requested password reset.
    Password reset still isn't working though test mails are. As I have data on the shares I'm reluctant to keep trying to see if it will work with a password reset without more knowledgeable help.
  • I took the plunge today

    I changed the email port from 25 to 485 and tried a password reset again.

    It worked!
