Are you using xraid?
You should have more space than that. You should have about 4.5 tb if you are using xraid.
It sound like the readynas is just using 1 tb of the 2 3tb disks. With xraid it should be able to create redundant space - effectively you'd have a raid 5 volume of 4 x 1 tb with 1 tb for redundancy, then a superimposed raid 1 volume of 2 x 2 tb (2tb for redundancy) that should give you 3+2 tb = 5 tb ( 4.5 because of disk capacity nomenclature.)
What information is shown in the volume tab on the dashboard? Are all the disks in the volume?
Is there data on the disks?
Are you on 6.0.8?
Have you raised a support ticket or phoned netgear?
