New ReadyNAS RN314 very poor AFP performance

Hi,

Just ended my data migration from old ReadyNAS Ultra 4 to new ReadyNAS 314.
New RD314 is upgraded to latest 6.0.8 SW.

My problem is very poor performance when using Mac both SMB and APF protocols.

If I mount share from old Ultra 4, directory has 500 files, it takes about 4-7 seconds to show file list.

From my new RD314 same task takes more than 5 minutes.
Finder almost hangs during this 5 minutes + time.

Also I get errors to console what using new RD314 shares.

Both Ultra 4 and RD314 use MTU size 9000 and normal APF shares.

Any idea what can cause this, is there any known problems in Readynas OS 6 with Mac AFP mounts?

  • Have you been able to solve this issue? If so, how were you able to solve it? I am having the same problems.
  • is your mac also set to MTU 9000?

i've had issues in the past with mismatched MTUs across the network, though I'm not sure I fully understand exactly when/why things go wrong...
