No USB Share after connecting USB disk
Hello,
i have a ReayNAS Duo.
I use an external USB drive to backup some files from the readynas.
The USB drive gets automatically a Windows share called USB_HDD_1 or USB_HDD_2 for a second USB drive.
If the copy action is done I switch the USB device for an second one (i not unmount the usb device).
Now i have the problem that the readynas doesn't create the share for the USB device anymore. Even when no usb devices is connected it is actually shown at Volums -> USB storage of the NAS. Does it hung? When i connect an other USB drive the Volume name stays at USB_HDD_5 and it doesn't change. It always stays at USB_HDD_5
But under "Shares - > Share Listing" i get the information "No USB shares exist. Plug in a USB storage device and click Refresh to display a USB share."
I have rebooted the ReadyNas. It does'nt solve the problem. Maybe it is caused because i never unmounted any USB device?
Any suggestions for my problem?
Thanks in advance for your help!

- ReadySECUREApprenticeWhat version of the firmware are you using?
When you go into FrontView, Volumes > Volume Settings, do you see the USB down at the bottom? If so, what does it say about the USB disk? What kind of USB are you using? What operating systems do you use to access this USB device? What file system is on the USB drive? - Joene1984AspirantI have tested it with 3 usb devices and all have the same. The share volume stays at USB_HDD_5 and doesn't change. Even if there's no USB device connected it says USB_HDD_5 is on.

At the volumes i only see the Harddisks. When i open the USB tab i see the USB device (USB HDD5, with no unmount option). Even if there's no usb device connected it shows an USB device.

Maybe an NetGear ReadyNas support member can react? - evan2NETGEAR ExpertPlease try to update to 4.1.10, then do OS Re-install.
- vive2000AspirantThis happened to just one of my 4 USD hard drives and I had to plug it into my computer and go into disk mgmt and delete the partition from the USB drive. I added a primary partition and plugged it back in the ReadyNAS and formated it FAT32. It then showed up. You will of course lose all the data on the USB drive though.
