NV+ Performance Problems
Hi,
I just bought a second hand NV+ and put some older drives into the machine and I'm getting awful performance issues even though the drives are only a couple of years old. I'm getting on 3Mb/s with a local copy using
At most, I get 3MB/s whereas on my other NAS I get closer to 30MB/s. Is there any way I can test the individual drives to see where the bottleneck might be?
TIA!

- vandermerweMasterThe NV+ is a pretty old machine and rsync is a processor intensive process.
I would say in my experience that is pretty good for rsync on an NV+/ I used to run rsync pull backups to a NV+ and I used to get about 2MB/s.
I think the bottle neck is the NV+ processor in your scenario.
Have you tried any other testing? - theplaceboeffe1AspirantHi,
I wrote another test:
Server: nc -l 11111 < /dev/zero
NV+: wget -O /dev/null http://server:11111
This gives me 10MB/s whereas from my Ultra, I'm getting 60MB/s.
So this rules out the hard-drive. It rules out the network since I'm running on a gigabit network. So you're probably right in that it's the CPU. Still, the 10MB/s is extremely slow so there must be something else up. - 937carreraAspirantYou might want to have a read through my fairly long thread at http://www.readynas.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=75476&p=420248#p420248
There's some of my own performance tests and advice on using NasTester. In my case a firmware upgrade solved my problem and 14MB write / 34MB read speeds over CIFS were normal
