NV+ stuck at boot after rsync

Hello,

I was trying to use rsync to backup my share, it started according to gui but I did´t see any files at destination.

So I aborted, it said it would told me when it was done. I went to logs and pressed download all.

After I did that the NAS crashed. I pressed the power button, it did a controlled power off.

Now it stuck at boot, I read other threds and resulted I tested every disk with HGST Windft, all disk passed the test.

I tested usb recovery tool: ( http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/21400/~/raidiator-4.1%3A-usb-recovery-tool )

With sucess.

Still stuck on boot..

Any sugestion?

Regards David

This sounds like a full OS partition.

One option is to contact Netgear and ask for per-incident support (they will charge).  If it is a full OS partition then it is easily fixed.

If you are comfortable with linux commands then it is possible to investigate/fix yourself.  Though it is more challenging if the NAS won't boot.

  • Hello StephenB, what are we talking about in numbers ~ with Netgear support?

I am familiar with Linux but I can't connect to SSH the only port open is 2049 NFS.
Can you hint me to a guide on what files I have to modify/delete and how to connect?

    Regards David

Their pricing does depend on location, so you need to contact them - they should tell you up front.  Last US pricing I heard was $75, but that might not be current.

Doing it yourself would require booting up in tech support mode, and then using telnet to get into the box.

From there you need to manually mount the OS partition, and look at the fullness and the inode use.

If the partition is full, then you need to find the offending logs (or dlna cache) and truncate them.

If you want specific commands, mdgm probably can do this while asleep.  It's probably more efficient to PM him on this.
