NV+ V2 restore from USB backup

I had my NV+ v2 backing up to an attached HD in a HD enclosure (NexStar 3).  My NAS died and was replaced by Netgear (thank you) but I cannot read the external HD when I plug the USB into my PC or Mac.  Shouldn't it show as a drive, or did the NAS format it in a way that only the NAS will recognize it?

Any help?  The NAS I was sent is a newer model, so I have been reluctant to plug the USB drive into the new NAS.

Thanks!

Michael

    Hi msingewald,

A temporary share will be available in your ReadyNAS once an external USB has been plugged into it. Also, can you confirm if you have setup the replacement ReadyNAS you receive from NETGEAR?

    Kind regards,

I did receive it, but there should be family photos on the backup USB drive, and I want to be sure I don't lose those files.

So, if I plug that drive into my new NAS, I will be able to access those files again through the NAS interface?

Can you confirm the steps I shoild take to restore the files from the backup job from the old NAS?

      Thank you very much.

      Michael

        Yes.

You can create backup jobs in the other direction. So you would have the folder on the USB disk as the source and the share on the NAS as the destination.
