Understood. But in order for SmartSync to copy permissions for any user, it needs to be running from either an administrative account, the built-in windows system account, or an account in the backup operators group.
If you run that xcopy command to another folder on the PC (instead of the NVX), does it succeed?
I suspect the underlying trigger is that 4.2.27 had an update to SAMBA (which also had security vulnerabilities). But if there is a way to restore the operation you want with 4.2.27, that would be much better than downgrading the NAS firmware and leaving the security vulnerabilities open.
