Hello Ozchap,
It must have nothing to do with ReadyNAS system you have. Can you post screenshot?

Thanks for your reply JennC
I would agree with you as it seems the 2011 MacBook Air is not accessing the ReadyNAS properly for Timemachine to work.
Please refer to the attached screenshot as requested.
1 - error message
2 - Finder directory (displays ReadyNas properly which can be accessed ok) HO-3TB-MA (AFP) for Mac. Files can be read & written to
3 - Timemachine does not display the drive it only refers to HO-3TB-MA without the (AFP) directory which is what is needed for the Mac.
Seems to me like I might need to contact AppleCare for support on this if there is an easy way otherwise I'll have to use another external drive.

Hello Ozchap,
Can it access the NAS shares via SMB and/or AFP? Also, please make sure the MacBook is connected to the same network where the NAS is.

Hi JennC
As in the previous post screen shot 2, access is fine on the AFP drive. Seems like Time Machine cannot access ReadyNAS properly, may have something to do with it being 5 years old as our sons 2015 macbook pro connected fine.
I will contact Apple for assistance or use a separate drive which is not ideal.
Thanks
