PC could not acces NAS duo after re-install Windows 7
One of my laptops is crashed. Before crashing it was one of my smoothesd login-laps to the NAs. But after reinstalling it took a longer time that I see the Nas in the Network and there is no permession for acces. I have to ask the server administrator. I looked and looked in the NAS , my router , I started and restarted the NAS and the lap for better recognizing, but nothing seemes to help. The lap has no problems with the other pc's in my workgroup to acces , so wat can be wrong with permission rights ?
An other thing what surprised my from the thirst day (1 month ago) is that I dont see the NAS in the windows-workgroup but only in the internal network.
Thank you for answering my question,
Dad Dirk

- dadparent1AspirantSorry,
There are no answers at this moment on my question. But I have extra information. I have set up a REMOTE application and that seems to work well, but at the end I got the same signal that I had no permission rights to acces. Now I think it is a setting on my laptop instad of the NAS that prohibitet the acces. But where do I have to look ?
Please help.
Dirk - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredIs the NAS configured under Network in Frontview for the same workgroup as your PC?
Is the username and/or computer name the same as a username or sharename on the NAS? - dadparent1AspirantThanks mdgm,
I will try to anwer your questions:
- 1 yes , and all other computers can acces the NAS by clicking the name I give - 'NETGEAR'- but on this specifiv laptop I see 'Netgear' but when I click it then Iám blocked, while all other laptops and pc 's are accesseble.
- 2 wher can I put/find this information ? The only thing I have done is given the name of the WORKGROUP and all computers could acces the NAS.
Thanks and waiting for replies
Dirk - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee Retired1) Any special software such as a different firewall on this computer?
2) Look under Shares > Share Listing in Frontview. Are any of the share names there the same as the username on the new machine or its computer name?
Look also under Security > User & Group Accounts. Are any of the usernames there the same as the username on the new machine or its computer name? - dadparent1AspirantHello,
1 On the new installed laptop is AV-software not installed and Windows firewall is shut-off. So I don't think that this can be the problem.
2 There is no installing of shares at all , only the name of the Workgroup and things were doing fine. As a solution for the problem I tried to invatie the laptop by remotecontrole and that installed fine. But when I log in by Remote I got the same warning that I have no permission. I hesitad to start with shares because I read that maybe I could not acces the NAS at all if I do things wrong. So the question and maybe the answer is, why have all mij laps and pc's (4) acces to the NAS when I installed the NAS and make the NAS member of the workgroup . The new installed lap not even when I rinstalled the workgroup totally on all my pc's and the NAS.
Gr,
Dirk
