Do you have a backup?
I would advise updating your backup before replacing disks one by one to expand your volume.
When you replace a disk the resulting resync puts heavy stress on all the disks. If a disk you don't replace is failing unbeknownst to you then you can run into problems. RAID-5 can withstand a single disk failure, but when you replace a disk the volume is degraded until the sync completes.
This sounds like something which would require a support case to investigate, but there would be some costs involved.
