Can I upgrade to a newer version of an NV+?

With the prices down on 1 & 2 TB drives, I may start expanding again. But the main thing is that I have my music back (I have a 1 TB Passport that I had the NV+ using, but I'm not sure when the hardware hit occurred, so I'm not quite sure of the backup either. I guess it's time foe TWO redundant backups just for peace of mind.
