Does anyone have any notes on how to enable hardware support or load kernel modules etc, in order to obtain a workable method to access the displays on ReadyNAS devices from within alternative linux ...

Not sure if these are very active forums. Might consider sharing a zip so that if someone can help they can see it later.

There actually never was a very active developer presence here. I could never even get anyone to help me with a "Netgear apps development for dummies" where all I wanted to be able to do was package some existing generic apps and compile them for the ReadyNAS so they'd run from /apps instead of root for those not skilled enough with Linux to do that manually via SSH.
Lack of app support was one of the major issues that I believe kept what started as a leading NAS line with exceptional hardware an also-ran in the long run.

I agree. They never were able to get their app storefront competitive. I think there weren't enough incentives for developers. Also competitors provided and supported many of their own apps, which Netgear really never did.
They seemed to think that storage was enough (which happens to be true for me, but not the market in general).
