Ready NAS 104 System Offline
hi people,
I have recently been experiencing some issues with my Netgear ReadyNAS 104 storage array.
Everytime it boots up, it works fine front-view display works fine and i'm able to access it the web interface. After 15-20 minutes, it goes offline and i get an error message through the web interface saying that the connection has been lost, it attempts to reconnect and always fails and the front view on the NAS remains off and i am unable to power the unit down without turning the power off from the wall, Netgear Raidar advises management system is offine.
Although the NAS remains "Offline" i am still able to reach all the files through the mapped network drive within Windows 7 and remote access from media devices on the same internal network.
Reading other posts, i am unable to do an OS reset as following the step by step instructions only provides the option "Boot Mode" Normal.
I have tried reinstalling the firmware 6.2.2 and after this didn't resolve my issue, updating the firmware on the NAS to the current Beta 10 6.2.3 - T1773 found here --> https://www.readynas.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=154&t=78866
I have completely run out of ideas, any advice is much appreciated. :D

- NhellieVirtuosoSeems like it is locking up, can you test this version (T1721)? :
http://www.readynas.com/download/beta/r ... 21-arm.img - EmbersoffuryAspirantThanks, i'll have a look at this tonight and get back to you shortly.
- EmbersoffuryAspiranti've updated the firmware to 6.2.3 T1721 as suggested and this hasn't resolved the issue.
the NAS still goes offline and is unable to connect to the admin page.
these are the screens that i get when trying to access the NAS via the web page. - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredThat is an old beta release.
Please try the latest beta release: http://www.readynas.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=154&t=78866
Let us know how it goes. - EmbersoffuryAspirantthanks, I'll take a look at this one tonight also.
Many thanks. - EmbersoffuryAspirantHi all,
The Firmware update you suggested 6.2.3 T1799 still hasn't resolved the issue, I'm still experiencing the device is offline message after 15-20 minutes from initial boot.
All further suggestions welcome.
Thanks
Nick - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredCan you send me your logs (see the link in my sig)?
Edit: If you can install the RAIDar beta app (http://www.readynas.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=129&t=80240) and click on the button in that to download the logs that would be even better as with the UI showing the offline message the relevant log entries would be at the end of the log files hopefully making them easy to find. The new RAIDar beta can be used to download the logs while the NAS in the state shown by your screenshots. - EmbersoffuryAspiranthi mdgm,
the RAIDar beta was not able to download the logs in the current state of the NAS as previously suggested. I have however managed to provide the logs to you, they have been sent. I hope you are able to review them and get back to me as soon as possible.
Thanks again. - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredAs I suspected your system is running out of memory. When this happens some lower priority processes are killed to free up memory. Higher priority services such as SMB remain running where possible. This explains why you can still access your shares using Windows but at the same time you can't access the web admin UI.
Which apps do you have installed? If you disable/uninstall these do you still run into the problem?
I think ReadyDLNA might be the culprit on your system. Can you try disabling that?
Which services are you running? - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredI see you have a torrent app installed. Torrent apps don't work well with the anti-virus service. You might find that e.g. disabling the anti-virus service is all that is required to stop the system from entering an out of memory condition.
