Been a long time since I fired up my WDTV box, but if I recall correctly, you can manually add shares using its web ui. The WDTV also supports NFS, so you could enable that protocol for your NAS media shares, and use that.
So I'd try doing that next. Not sure if this is the right version of the user guide for your WDTV model, but likely is close enough:
There is some info around page 200 for both NFS and adding shares manually.

Looked at that its the same model wdtv that I have what i dont understand is the protocols are the same between the 2 nas i have the smb+ addon and thats set the same as well i might just reset it and start again do you know if i can resotre the config from the 104 to the 214 ie accounts shares etc

I have found the solution after a lot of head scratching there was a setting under smb protocol for legacy windows discovery both Nas are now shown on the network and are both available to the WDTV thanks very much for your help with this and advice
