ready nas duo v2 installation time

I needed to install a new drive in my readynas due to the disaster of losing both of my drives with all of my data on it. so, I recovered the data ($$$$) and have it on an external drive ready to install onto my brand new 1 tb drive loaded in my readynas. I loaded the drive into bay 1, bay 2 I left empty and it started installing right away (yes!). however, it never stopped installing and after 60 hours or so I'm not feeling so positive about this working out.
I've opened up a case with support but I haven't heard back on this problem since Wednesday. Can you help me out? Thanks!

  • Thanks again, Stephen. I'll try it when I get home from work and let you know. Wish me luck!

Nope, it doesn't work. Now I'm getting the disc 1 & 2 LED flashing once and then again and then the #2 LED stays on indefinitely. Also the fan stays on high. Any ideas?
  • Hello Stephen,
I finally got my ReadyNas Duo v1 up and running. the chassis turned out to be bad. So, now I need advice on how to upload all of my recovered files onto my new blank drives (2). Everything is on an external 1TB drive. Now how do I get it off of it and onto my Nas ?
    thanks!

How did you back it up? Also, how is the USB drive formatted?
  • it was recovered from the data lost on my previous 2 drives in my old nas. It is NTFS

The simplest thing is to attach it to your PC and drag/drop back to the NAS over the network. You'd want wired ethernet for that.
  • ok. I have the Ethernet going from my laptop to the back of the Nas. I have the usb from the external drive to one of the the usb ports on the back of the nas but I don't see anything coming up. Ideas?

Plug the USB drive into the PC, and copy from the PC to the NAS
  • Thanks, Stephen. Everything seems to working fine now. I feel like I'm on my way back home from a very difficult trip to ReadyNas hell!
