Ready NAS RN31842E fail startup

Hi.

My readynas have problem to start. There are 2 Red Light over last 2 HD and 1 Green Light (2 if insert Lan cable).

I'have also another (NEW) same model of NAS. Can I replace only 4 HD without loss my data in the new Nas?

Is there a procedure step by step?

I belive that the fail is in motherboard and power supply.

Thank you very much.

Antonio

  • If the problem is the NAS itself, not the drives, then you can simply move the drives into another OS6 ReadyNAS and everything, including the NAS configuration data, will go with it.  It is best if you first use a scratch drive to initialize the new NAS and bring it to the same OS revision as the old, except it is not recommended that you go backwards a major revision -- so 6.10.5 to 6.10.2 is OK, but not 6.10.5 to 6.9.6).  You cannot move it into a NAS running an older, legacy OS, but the NAS can be a legacy one that has been updated to OS6.
