ready nas ultra 6 Drive expansion with 6tb drives

Firmware 4.2.15 is very old, the current version is 4.2.31, you need to update and perhaps factory default
Hopefully others will help with your expansion issue
You could also consider upgrading the NAS to OS 6 firmware, search the forum on this

the 4.2.31 firmware only partially worked. It seems to be able to see all 3726 GB of each disk when I look at the "Status->Health" but the volume (X-RAID2) is only 8324GB.... it won't expand past the size it was with 6*2TB disks. any suggestions?
What process did you use? It should be something like:
- Update to 4.2.31
- power down
- install 6x6TB
- power up, using boot menu to do factory reset
Given where you are, you should probably try the factory default facility in Frontview (system->update, choose the "factory default" tab, then click "perform factory default").
The factory rest fromthe System->Update worked this time. I think it has to do a factory reset and then when a second one is done via that menu it changed the disk form alocating 167*GB (the same as the 6 by 2TB HDD I had inthere) to 3726GB (but still only giving 8TB of space) then on the next reset it expanded it to 18TB of usable space. This is with firmware 4.2.31 in the Pioneer Pro 6.
I am now a happy bunny and will sopend the next couple of days moving all the 6Tb of files thatr were onthe system back on to it.
