Ready NAS won't play WAV files
Hello to all !
I'm new to this forum and new to streaming too.
I have a ReadyNAS Duo which I use exclusively for streaming my music files to a NAIM UNITIQUTE on a wired connection.
The ReadyNAS Has a 1TB WESTERN DIGITAL HDD and has both FLAC (uncompressed) and WAV files loaded but for some reason I can't play any WAV files but the FLAC's play ok.
I know its not the fault of the Naim Unitiqute so I'm a bit confused as to what the problem is.
I'm new to streaming and keen to learn more but I'm no techie that's for sure.
I'd be grateful for any advice given.
Thanks in advance..

- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserHave you confirmed that the wav files can be played on the NAIM using a usb stick?
Is the problem that you can't find the wav files, or that when you select them they won't play? - FunkitAspirantYes the WAVS won't play from the RND but the Naim will play WAV files from a memory stick.
However the WAV Files did play when I had logitech Squeezebox Duet but I've sold that to buy the Naim.
Cheers. - StephenBGuru - Experienced UserJust to be clear - the specific WAVS that don't play from the RND will play if they are on a memory stick?
Also, do some WAVs play, or do they all fail? - FunkitAspirantI'd have to transfer the non playing wavs to a memory stick and see if they play.
All the wavs on the RND won't play on the Naim - StephenBGuru - Experienced UserI am thinking that the Naim is using the ReadyDLNA server on the NAS. Is that correct?
Also, what firmware are you running on the Duo? - FunkitAspirant

Hi, To answer to you first question, the Naim is connected directly to the NAS so I presume it's using the, ReadyDLNA server.
As for what firmware the Duo I'll have to check how to do that and check.
Apologies if my answers are a bit vague; I'm new to all this streaming stuff but keen to learn.
Cheers.. - StephenBGuru - Experienced User"connected directly to the NAS" - you mean you have ethernet running from the Naim to the NAS? Instead of connecting them both to your router?
Some media players require DLNA, others can access the media files directly with CIFS or NFS. It would be helpful to know which method the Naim uses. - FunkitAspirantSorry my mistake, the NAS is connected to a Netgear Router.
I'm told the naim uses DLNA.
