Readynas 104 not horizontal expanding
Hello First support post here... Thanks in advance for any received assistance. I've been running my 104 with 2x4TB drives in what it tells me is RAID 1. I'm trying to add 2 more 3TB drives...

With X-RAID the disks you add need to be at least as high capacity as existing disks. So the 3TB disks would be rejected as too small.

Thanks mdgm - that makes sense. Can you tell me, if I switch to Flex-RAID will the 3TB disks be accepted? And also, when switching will all data on my origianl 4TB disks be destroyed?
Cheers

If you disable X-RAID you could then add a new volume using your 3TB disks. Your existing volume would remain when disabling X-RAID.
There is an option when using Flex-RAID to destroy a volume if you want to get rid of it, but if you do choose the destroy option for a volume be sure to only do that after having previously backed up your data.
