ReadyNAS 104 "putname+14" message
I'm not sure if my ReadyNAS 104 is at the end of it's life as it keeps going offline with different messages on the display. The most recent message read "putname+14" on the front display and I could...

The NAS is crashing at that location. The puzzle is why. What firmware are you running?

But I wanted to make sure that
A. I don't end up erasing the data on the drives (which per the link above doesn't seem to be he case for a OS re-install) and
B. This was actually what I should be doing to address the issue or whether something else is going on that won't be resolved with a OS re-install.
An OS reinstall won't affect your data. It will
- reset the admin password to password
- reset the network to use DHCP
- turn off volume quota (which can be turned on again via the volume settings wheel)
So it should be safe to do, and there's a chance it might help.

Thanks for the quick reply!
I'm on firmware 6.10.2. So, funny enough the NAS has been running without issues for about 8+ hours now and no error message or anything. I'm doubtful that'll last so I'm going to try a OS re-install just to be safe.
Thanks for the info.!

So I tried a OS re-install and while it seemed to have mostly worked I did see an error message that read "err: could not properly extract" but luckily the NAS did boot back up. I noticed there was a new firmware but for some reason I can't seem to be able to upgrade to 6.10.4. Do you see this as a possible issue I need to try and fix in a different way?
Thank you again!

That suggests something is still off. I'm wondering if the flash has an issue.

What happens when you try to upgrade?
