Users normally access the NAS using windows file sharing (\\ipaddress or \\ipaddress\sharename in file explorer, or by adding a network place, shortcut, or creating a mapped drive).

You can set up the NAS with a user account for each user that matches their windows log-on and windows password.  Or you can use different accounts, and store the NAS credentials in the Windows credential manager for that user.

Each user will have one private share, and of course they can create any folders they want in it.

If you want to create a more complex setup there is some more info here: http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/29838/~/readynas-share-and-permission-faq
