ReadyNAS 1100 Snapshots
Hello,
I have an 1100 configured in my corporate environment and am working on implementing backups/snapshots.
The backup is configured and running smoothly, however I have concerns in regards to the Snapshots.
I have snapshots configured to occur every 4 hours during office work hours. I see in the logs that these are occurring and can see the shares being created (Ex. Common and Common-snap are displayed). However, when I attempt to look inside of a -snap folder, I am unable to do so. Windows reports an error stating I either do not have access to the share or that it is missing.
I joined the 1100 to my domain using the administrator account and was logged in as the administrator attempting to view the -snap folders on a Windows 2008 R2 server.
I read the following manuals but did not see any information that could help me figure out what's causing the error:
http://www.readynas.com/download/documentation/UM/ReadyNAS_UM_19Nov07.pdf
http://www.readynas.com/download/documentation/UM/RAIDiator4-1_SW_en_06Dec11.pdf
Does anyone know what is causing this issue?
-Thanks

- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredIf your snapshot space is e.g. 10GB and you write more than 10GB, the snapshot will be invalidated.
Also have you tried logging in as the admin (Frontview user) not the Domain admin?
Our new OS6 devices support unlimited snapshots, whereas with the 1100 when you create a new snapshot the old one is deleted. - rockemsockemmanAspirantHello,
I just checked the -snap shares again today and am able to access them without any errors. I will continue to check after every snapshot runs to see if the issue comes back.
-Thank you
