ReadyNAS 2120 sync and space

Good Day,

We currently have 2 ReadyNAS 2120s set up to use for backups. They will eventually be in separate sites. We backup our files to the NAS, then sync using Rsync to the other NAS. The problem we are facing is that when I access the NAS's via UNC path, they have pretty much identical files and space used. In Frontview, the one reports having used about double the space the other one is using. Wouldn't be much of an issue if it was a couple of MB, but 3TB of unaccounted for used space is a bit much.

How can I see where the extra used space is being used?

  • There's one folder with a 8 snapshots more on the one NAS than the other. I still don't see that accounting for 3TB. Is there any way I could see what amount of space is being taken up by snapshots?

you can enable the snapshots for browsing, and look at their size.

Or delete them if you don't need them, and then check the space used again.
  • Cool, I'll give that a bash

Deleted all snapshots on both sides. Only about a 2.6TB difference now. Anything else that could be taking up space but be hidden in Frontview and when exploring via UNC path?

Edit: It seems that it took a while to realize the snapshots were gone. Size is reported as the same on both sides after running the sync again and a couple of refreshes.

    Thanks for the help. :D
